Get to Know Me

Pete is a partner in our Red Bank, NJ office. He is a licensed certified public accountant in the states of New Jersey and in New York and has more than 30 years of professional experience in federal, multi-state and international taxation as well as business consulting and mergers and acquisitions. In addition to specializing in service to the construction industry, his clients include technology, pharmaceuticals, alternative energy, and food and beverage.

Pete founded and managed McGuigan Tombs & Company, CPAs for 26 years before joining his firm with WithumSmith+Brown in August 2016. Prior to founding his own firm, Pete was an Audit Supervisor with a large regional accounting firm and a Tax Manager with a “Big Four” accounting firm. Pete has served on various committees of the NJCPA and has lectured on various technical tax subjects at seminars conducted by the Society as well.

Pete is also actively involved in various community and business organizations. Previously, Pete served on the Board of Special Olympics of NJ. He currently serves as First Vice President of the Board of Trustees of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties and takes a lead role on the organization’s Finance Committee. In addition, since 2010, Pete continues to volunteer his time to the organization as an active Big Brother. Currently, Pete is a trustee at the Montclair State University Feliciano School of Business. Pete is also a trustee on the Advisory Board at Saint John Vianney High School. Pete chairs the Finance Committee at Manasquan River Golf Club. Pete has served on the Board of Directors of a publicly-held company in the role of financial expert, pursuant to, and in compliance with, Sarbanes-Oxley. He resides at the Jersey Shore in Monmouth County, NJ.
