My 10th Anniversary with WithumSmith+Brown

My 10th Anniversary with WithumSmith+Brown

Today is the 10th anniversary of our merger with Withum. Peter, Frank and I are still going strong. Also with us are Scott Perlzweig, Debbie Malles and Kristen Celii.

Besides us, three other firms merged in during 1995 – Weeks, Holderbaum, DeGraw & Nadkarni, LLP (February), Gershon, Pierce, Lissak & Co. (March), and Manuel S. Newman & Co. CPAs (December). We moved into the New Brunswick office, the Weeks firm into Somerville (now part of Morristown) and Gershon’s office became the firm’s Morristown office. The four of us added 50 people to the 200 already at Withum bringing the volume to $40 million. Today there are over 500 people with a volume of $110 million. Withum’s substantial growth since we joined them has been through mergers, new business and expanding clients. The CPA firm we joined is now a substantial business and one of the top 30 firms in the United States.

Numbers and anniversaries do not tell the story. They are headlines, but behind the highlights are a fantastic group of people adding value and providing for the needs of really nice clients. During this time Withum has transitioned from an office centric practice to a niche business drawing upon partners and staff whatever their office to bring together the best of us to fulfill our clients’ needs. The firm has a strong presence in over 25 industries and in virtually every technical specialty.

All of the merged in partners, with the exception of those that completely retired, are still involved with the practice as partners or partners’ emeriti. Besides six offices in New Jersey the firm has two offices in Florida and offices in Manhattan, Philadelphia, Silver Springs, MD, Colorado and the Cayman Islands and is an active participant in the HLB International network of accountants and consultants in over 100 countries worldwide.

The anniversary is an excuse to call attention to our involvement and the growth of the firm, but for me and my fellow partners, every day is a celebration. We are part of a truly fine organization.

How Can We Help?
