How to Spend an Enjoyable Two Hours

The New York Antiquarian Book Fair will be held April 7-10 at the Park Avenue Armory, 643 Park Avenue at 67th Street, New York City. I have been attending this Fair since I was in high school and will be there Friday.

Having a hobby is a great way to enjoy yourself and to learn, grow and meet people. Collecting books is a fine hobby but even if you do not collect books, the book fair is a great way to spend a couple of hours. Just browsing the stalls of dealers with their many books for sale and also posters, maps and autographs can provide much enjoyment. I also suggest picking up a bunch of the free catalogs to peruse when you get home. I find hours of pleasure doing this afterwards (walking out with over a dozen finely illustrated catalogues.)

For those wanting more information, go to the Fair’s web site: www.nybookfair.com. I also refer you to a dealer’s site to get a glimpse of their eye opening autograph offerings www.sethkaller.com which provides a trip through American history. Information about a well-illustrated quarterly magazine can be accessed at www.finebooksmagazine.com

Enjoy!
