“At the End of the Day, We are All on the Same Team.”
The often used phrase “been there, done that” is never more apropos than when a CPA looks to his fellow CPA practitioner for help and guidance as the demands on you as a CPA are more extensive than ever. Between changing tax and accounting rules, technological advances, increasing continuing education requirements, developing the newer services which our clients need and increased competition, it is difficult for us to keep up never mind get ahead of the game. Peer review and the need to maintain quality are constant reminders of the importance of what we as a profession, deliver to our clients and stakeholders. But if you are a local CPA firm with limited staff, how do you manage; where do you find those vital resources?
The Partners’ Network
For many years, Withum has maintained “The Partners’ Network“. This program is intended to support local accounting and tax practitioners in areas where you either may need help or do not perform such services. Members of the “The Partners’ Network” are free to call us with issues and questions they have and to seek our assistance. While these questions are sometimes technical in nature, they also include issues related to managing a practice, firm succession planning and other matters you face on a daily basis. At times it is a request for specialized tax or management consulting services, a valuation by one of our partners Accredited in Business Valuations by the AICPA, forensic accounting or maybe even completing an audit where you may not have the expertise. In many cases, it is just to get some feedback from a trusted colleague. You have used us for services either for your clients or for a business where you have a conflict. You do this having all the confidence in knowing that when the project is complete, the client remains with you. We also provide periodic CPE sessions and maintain a Knowledge Center which is a repository for all Partners’ Network newsletters and information.
Perhaps you are confronting peer review for the first time. We have extensive experience in completing peer reviews or in assisting local firms to prepare for such a review. As a CPA firm registered with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), we have been subjected to the highest level of peer review and maintain our own high-quality standards throughout all of our services. We can help and support you through your peer review process.
We are also well known for CPA Firm Specific Systems analysis and selection. As a firm with a strong technology focus, we have implemented our own state-of-the-art electronic workpaper and portal capabilities and have helped a number of local firms to do the same.
So if you find yourself feeling somewhat alone and in need of “CPA” resources, please feel free to reach out to us. After all, at the end of the day, we are all on the same team.
