George Street Playhouse Honors William R. Hagaman, Jr., with Thomas H. Kean Arts Advocacy Award


William R.Hagaman, Jr., WS+B’s managing partner and CEO,was honored as the recipient of the2010 Thomas H. Kean Arts Advocacy Awardat the George Street Playhouse Annual Spring Gala.The black-tie event was held on Sunday, May 2 atthe New Brunswick Hyatt Regency.Former Governor Thomas H. Kean was on hand to personally present the award.

The first award of its kind was given to Governor Kean in 1990 and thereafter, named in his honor to pay tribute to an individual, corporation or foundation whose dedication to the arts enhances the cultural life of the citizens of New Jersey. Bill is a former Chairman of the Board at George Street Playhouse, and is current Chairman of the Board of the New Brunswick Cultural Center.

Bill’s professional involvement at the local, regional and state level is exemplary. In 2002, he was appointed to serve on The BEST Commission (Budget Efficiency Savings Team) for the state of New Jersey. A longtime treasurer and former chairman of the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce, Bill was honored by the MCRCC as a “2002 Community Leader of Distinction.”Bill is also treasurer of the Hyacinth AIDS Foundation, a member of the board of the NJ State Chamber of Commerce, and vice president of the Ocean Day School, Inc.He has been a member of the Kiwanis, Rotary and the Jaycees, and was the former treasurer of the New Brunswick Chamber of Commerce.
