Can’t Miss Grants Available to Massachusetts Life Sciences Companies


As we reach the tail end of the year Massachusetts life sciences companies should be aware application windows for numerous grant programs are quickly coming to a close. In addition to previous grants administered by the Massachusetts Manufacturing Emergency Respond Team we wrote about here, companies may now be eligible for the following grants administered by the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center:

Accelerating Coronavirus Testing Solutions (A.C.T.S):

Purpose:

This grant program is intended to help accelerate the development of SARS-CoV-2 testing. The program is focusing on the following:

  • Solutions that allow for rapid results and can be administered from home or at the point-of-care. Solutions costing under $10 with greater than 75% sensitivity and 95% specificity are of particular interest.
  • Solutions that will help alleviate testing supply chain bottlenecks or address another testing logistical issue.

Who Qualifies?

Massachusetts-based for-profit companies or non-profit institutions (excluding municipalities or other government entities).

Application Window:

Applications are being accepted at the end of on-going two week cycles, with the next cycle closing November 27, 2020.

Bits to Bytes:

Purpose:

This grant program is investing up to $10 million dollars to support work and equipment at non-for-profit partners. Eligible companies will receive approximately $750,000 to help support the following areas:

  • Assist the analysis of large datasets that research critical healthcare issues or develop new treatment methods
  • Attract and train life sciences data scientists in the Commonwealth

Who Qualifies?

Massachusetts not-for-profit organizations that are collaborating with at least one for-profit Massachusetts life sciences company. Institutions that are exclusively health care providers and/or requests for standard healthcare equipment funding would not be eligible.

Application Window:

Applications are being accepted until December 10, 2020 at 1pm EST

Novel Therapeutics Delivery:

Purpose:

This grant program is investing up to $5 million total dollars and eligible companies will receive approximately $750,000 to improve the delivery of existing and innovative therapeutics.

Who Qualifies?

Massachusetts not-for-profit organizations that are collaborating with a least one for-profit Massachusetts life sciences company. Institutions that are exclusively health care providers and/or requests for standard healthcare equipment funding would not be eligible.

Application Window:

Applications are being accepted until December 17, 2020 at 1pm EST

Where to Apply:

Women’s Health:

Purpose:

This grant program is investing up to $5 million total dollars and eligible companies will receive approximately $750,000 to address life science questions that solely, disproportionately, or differently affect women.

Who Qualifies?

Massachusetts not-for-profit organizations that are collaborating with a least one for-profit Massachusetts life sciences company. Institutions that are exclusively health care providers and/or requests for standard healthcare equipment funding would not be eligible.

Application Window:

Applications are being accepted until January 14, 2021 at 1pm EST
