Golden Rule

My previous blog showed differences in the Ten Commandments. Here are some differences in the Golden Rule. The words are slightly different, but the meaning is consistent.

Thou shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Leviticus 19:18

What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.

Confucius

What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow.

Hillel (70 BCE to 10 CE)

All things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you to them.

Matthew 7:12

None of you truly believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself.

Number 13 of Imam “Al-Nawawi’s Forty Hadiths”

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you

The way I learned it when I was a kid.

Whatever version you use, it is not a bad way to lead your life!
