Agriculture Innovation and the R&D Tax Credit: What Qualifies?

Innovation happens every day in agriculture, from the milking parlor to the field. Adjusting feed rations, improving herd health, testing new seed varieties or trialing a new irrigation setup may not feel like research and development, but these activities could qualify for the federal R&D tax credit. Join Withum's Agriculture and R&D Tax Credit teams to learn how your day-to-day improvements on the farm can turn into real tax savings.

Event Details

Farmers innovate every day, often out of necessity. Rising input costs, disease pressures and changing growing conditions continually push agricultural producers to test new approaches and improve the way they operate. What many may not realize is that certain activities may qualify for the federal R&D tax credit.

A recent U.S. Tax Court decision, George v. Commissioner, T.C. Memo. 2026-10, reinforced that qualified research is not limited to a traditional laboratory setting. In this webinar, attendees will gain a better understanding of existing R&D opportunities within their operations and what information they should begin tracking to evaluate and support those opportunities.
