A Glimpse Into Our 2022 Report Findings

  • A majority of respondents (54%) said they have decided to have a hybrid work environment permanently (with another 19% saying that lawyers are still only back in the office part-time, i.e. hybrid.)
  • Firms are still cautiously optimistic about moderate increases in financial KPIs for 2023, though less so than in 2021.
  • Firms still expect to raise rates, though less aggressively than at the end of 2021.
  • Getting together in-person, both internally and with clients and potential clients, is a priority for the next 12 months.
  • There seems to be an increased focus on strategy again, now that firm leaders are past the “crisis mode” of the pandemic and the extraordinary focus on talent acquisition in 2021 and early 2022.

A Glimpse Into Our 2021 Report Findings

  • Nearly 40% of respondents said that the possibility of remote work has allowed them to consider new hires they would not have otherwise.
  • Nearly 100% of respondents with 150 lawyers or more indicated their DEI efforts had increased.
  • When asked about initiatives underway to maintain firm culture, far and away, the most popular response among law firm leaders was through social events, both in-person (73%) and virtual (63%).
  • Only 40% of law firm leaders said that the performance of their department/practice groups was “mostly successful.”
  • Sixty-three percent (63%) of our survey respondents said that their focus on marketing and business development increased in the last twelve months and another 24% said it remained the same.
  • Cybersecurity is far and away the highest priority for law firms in the next twelve months with 85% of respondents ranking it as a high priority technology issue.
