Giving Thanks by Giving Back

Over 400 professionals from WithumSmith+Brown, CPAs got out of the office and into their communities this week to help local charities during the firm’s inaugural Withum Week of Caring.

WithumSmith+Brown, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, launched its inaugural Withum Week of Caring, sending everyone in their organization out into their communities to volunteer their time during the three days before Thanksgiving. With over 400 professionals across six states, the accounting staff was able to help over 30 different charitable organizations, including children’s hospitals, social service organizations, animal shelters and soup kitchens.

“Giving back to our communities is an important part of our Firm’s culture,” says Bill Hagaman, CPA, WS+B’s managing partner.“Everyone is having a blast this week, and we are so excited to be able to do this, especially during this time of year.”

From serving food to cleaning kennels, WS+B’s staff got down and dirty for a good cause.“It was hard work, but what an amazing experience,” said Vicki Beirne, Office Manager at the firm’s New Brunswick office, who was one of 14 volunteers who helped cook and serve a full Thanksgiving-style dinner to 250 people at Coachmen Family Center in White Plains, NY, a non-profit organization providing housing and supportive services for low-income families in Westchester County. “It certainly reminds you to be grateful for everything you have.”

Deeming the week a great success, the accounting firm anticipates making Withum Week of Caring an annual event.
