Withum Champions Military Appreciation Month: Showcasing a Deep-Rooted Commitment to Veterans

As the nation observes Military Appreciation Month throughout May, Withum proudly reaffirms its strong and unwavering commitment to supporting military veterans, active-duty service members and their families through a variety of impactful initiatives.

The Firm demonstrates profound respect and gratitude for those who have served our nation by engaging in veteran-focused community impact efforts. These activities include supporting Wreaths Across America, Folds of Honor and Soldiers’ Angels alongside other team member-driven initiatives. These efforts and a supportive work environment consistently earn Withum high rankings in the “Best for Vets” employer surveys.

Withum’s support for the veteran community is deeply ingrained in its culture and values. Employing veterans and active service members, the Firm recognizes the unique skills, dedication and sacrifices of servicemen and women. The Firm’s Veteran Team Member Resource Group leads this strategy by being an ally and providing meaningful support for service members and their families, from active duty to civilian life. The Veteran TMRG exists to help team members reach their full potential through partnerships and dialogue across the firm.

Withum takes a nationwide and regional approach to supporting the military community. The Firm is a proud supporter of Wreaths Across America, a national non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the nation’s veterans by placing wreaths on their headstones each December. In 2024, Withum was honored to be the #2 sponsor in New Jersey. Over 100 team members rallied nationwide to lay 2,797 wreaths across 43 locations, including 14 states and Puerto Rico.

Additionally, Withum is a dedicated annual sponsor of Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of military service members who have fallen or been disabled in the line of duty. These scholarships, which can offer up to $5,000, help bridge the financial gaps of quality education. This year, Withum is donating $10,000 and participating in the annual charity golf tournament.

Withum has embedded its giving philosophy through a new hire community impact event for local chapters of Soldiers’ Angels, a national non-profit that provides aid, comfort and resources to deployed U.S. service members, veterans and their families. The Firm’s Empower Class, a cohort of first-year professionals, assembled care packages during their week-long new hire training in Disney World. These packages were shipped to service members stationed across the globe. Other regional efforts benefiting Soldiers’ Angels include volunteering time, donating essential items and participating in initiatives that directly support the well-being of veterans in the Florida region.

Within the Florida region, Withum has found opportunities to support the veteran community at the University of Central Florida (UCF). Partner and Navy Reserve veteran, Ray Bastin, spoke with students on transitioning from active service to academic life and into the professional industry. The session provided valuable insights, practical advice and guidance to help students succeed in their post-military careers.

Danielle Andersen, a supervisor in Withum’s Los Angeles office, also leads volunteer efforts for the Annual Memorial Day Flag Placement with Scouting America in her local community. She will be joined by others from her office to make the event a success.

With a substantial not-for-profit practice, Withum’s Civic Warriors Podcast features conversations with nonprofit leaders effecting change, many of these being veteran-focused organizations. Hosted by Partner and Not-for-Profit Services Team Leader Brad Caruso, past episodes have showcased the Blinded Veterans Association, Warrior Strong, Operation Hat Trick, Soldiers to Sidelines, Rebuilding Warriors and Families of Fallen Night Stalkers.

Because of Withum’s support of the veteran and service member community, the Firm has earned high rankings in various “Best for Vets” employer surveys yearly, showcasing its commitment to recruiting, hiring and retaining veterans. With strong veteran-friendly policies, inclusive workplace cultures and programs designed to meet the unique needs of former military personnel, Withum provides meaningful career opportunities and a supportive environment, making it a top choice for veterans transitioning to civilian careers.

Withum’s ongoing support for veterans through these diverse initiatives reflects its sincere appreciation for their service and its commitment to being a true ally to the military community. The Firm remains dedicated to serving those who served. Sacrifices deserve more than words—they deserve lasting action.
