Everything I Learned About Science, I Learned From Michael Crichton

Everything I Learned About Science, I Learned From Michael Crichton

I just finished “Micro” by Michael Crichton (completed by Richard Preston) and realized that I read all of Crichton’s books except one – which I will read in the next few weeks.

While reading “Micro” it dawned on me that I learned as much about science from his books than probably any other source.  While I am interested in science, it is not as interesting to me as other areas.  However, Crichton’s most recent (and last) book has unbelievable information about insects and rain forests that is woven in as part of the plot. Since reading “Micro,” I now look at spiders, wasps, ants and plants differently.

My first taste of nanotechnology was in “Prey,” my initial education on Global warming was from “State of Fear,” my understanding of dinosaurs was expanded with “Jurassic Park” and “The Lost World, “ microbiology from “Andromeda Strain” and DNA, genetics and primates from “Congo” and “Next.”

I have found all his books quick reads and page turners.  All have educational value and make learning easy and interesting.  I don’t think you can go wrong reading any of his books
