Jay is located in the firm’s Princeton, NJ, office and has more than 45 years of public accounting experience. He specializes in the insurance industry and is a licensed certified public accountant in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. He is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) and a member of the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) section of the AICPA.

Jay was also a founding trustee and chair of the NJSCPA Insurance Trust from 1982-88 and 1993; a past president of the Mercer Chapter; state trustee, vice president and member of the Professional Conduct and Accounting and Auditing committees of the NJSCPA.

Jay served as chair of the New Jersey Business and Industry Association’s Health Affairs Committee for ten years; on the Board of Visiting Nurses of Mercer County, Inc. for 19 years (three years as president); on the Board of New Grange School (special needs) for ten years; and on his church council for 12 years serving as treasurer and financial secretary and on the initial Building Committee. Together with his wife, Katy, they worked as youth leaders for 12 years. Jay also was a volunteer EMT with the community First Aid Squad for 12 years (two years as president) and six years as Trustee for the local parking authority.

Jay’s professional career included nine years with a national firm, primarily serving the insurance industry and two years with an insurance company before forming his own firm with a partner in 1974. He joined into Withum in 1987. The Hartford, AXA, General Re, Reliance and USF&G were among the clients Jay provided services to over the years in the capacity of audit, special reviews and mediation and arbitration disputes.

Since entering emeritus status and relocating to South Central, PA, near the Appalachian Trail, Jay has continued to be involved with his community.  He serves on his church council as treasurer and as chair of the Capital Campaign.  In addition, Jay is board member and treasurer of the Appalachian Trail Museum, a museum guide and a member of the Carlisle, PA, Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Legislative Committee. He and Katy are also founding members of the Cumberland 912 Project, a group of citizens dedicated to the education and support of the U.S. Constitution.
