Ray is a partner in the firm’s New York office and has over 35 years of professional experience advising high-net-worth individuals and families. He is a New York licensed certified public accountant, personal financial specialist, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, and Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy®. Ray serves as the team leader of our Family Office Services practice, specializing in tax management and accounting, wealth transfer, and philanthropic planning and administrative services.
Ray earned his BA degree in economics and BS degree in accounting from Binghamton University. Prior to joining Withum, Ray was a partner with EisnerLubin llp (joined with Withum in 2011) and also worked in the Merrill Lynch Private Banking and Investment Group, where he provided tax planning and compliance services for ultra-high-net-worth clients and served as a tax advisor to Merrill’s private wealth advisors. Prior to his tenure with Merrill Lynch, Ray was senior vice president of tax consulting services at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management. During his career, Ray has also been associated with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Bessemer Trust Company.
Very active in the accounting profession, Ray sits on the Family Office Committee of the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA). He enjoys teaching, lecturing and writing about tax and financial planning topics, serving as the tax learning director for Withum University. His article “Planning Options for the Philanthropic Client” was published in Practical Tax Strategies, a professional journal produced by Thomson Reuters. Ray is an adjunct lecturer in the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College in New York City where he teaches graduate level partnership taxation and federal income tax. Ray is a past president of the Binghamton University Alumni Association, a member of the steering committee of the New York chapter of Advisors in Philanthropy, and is involved with several charitable and civic groups in his community. He resides in Nassau County, NY.
