Ray is an emeritus partner in the firm’s New York office and has over 40 years of professional experience advising high-net-worth individuals and families. He is a New York licensed certified public accountant and personal financial specialist. Ray specializes in tax management and accounting, wealth transfer, and philanthropic planning and administrative services.
Prior to joining Withum, Ray has worked in the Merrill Lynch Private Banking and Investment Group, where he provided tax planning and compliance services for ultra-high-net-worth clients and served as a tax advisor to Merrill’s private wealth advisors. Prior to his tenure with Merrill Lynch, Ray was senior vice president of tax consulting services at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management. During his career, Ray has also been associated with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Bessemer Trust Company, and Arthur Young and Company.
He enjoys teaching, lecturing, and writing about tax and financial planning topics. His article “Planning Options for the Philanthropic Client” was published in Practical Tax Strategies, a professional journal produced by Thomson Reuters. Ray has served as an adjunct lecturer in the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College in New York City where he taught graduate level courses in partnership taxation and federal income tax. He is currently involved with several charitable and civic groups in his community. Ray resides in Buncombe County, NC.
