IRS ISSUES PROPOSED REGULATIONS ON HEALTH INSURANCE PROVIDERS FEE

The Internal Revenue Service ("IRS"), on March 1, 2013, issued proposed regulations that provide guidance on the annual fee imposed on covered entities engaged in the business of providing health insurance for United States health risks. The health insurance provider fee, as it has come to be called, was introduced as a provision in section 9010 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 ("ACA").
