Serluco & Co. Merges with WithumSmith+Brown, PC
Certified public accounting firm Serluco & Co., LLC, has merged with WithumSmith+Brown, effective January 1, 2009. With this merger, eight new staff have been welcomed to WS+B’s Red Bank office, including Richard Serluco, CPA; Michael Serluco, CPA; and Joseph Denuto, CPA. Gerald Rembisz, Anthonie Zimmermann, Tara Candell, Aida Scaccianoce and Judy Silver have also joined the firm.

Formerly located in Holmdel, NJ, the members of Serluco & Co. provide high level audit, accounting, tax and consulting services primarily to a select group of health care providers and not-for-profit organizations.
Andy Vitale, CPA, Partner-in-Charge of WS+B’s Red Bank office, is also very pleased with the union. “Serluco & Co. not only fit our criteria as a merger candidate, but they are also in our local marketplace and have a niche expertise that we are looking to expand upon. Richard Serluco was a partner with CPA firm Deloitte & Touche (now Deloitte) prior to founding Serluco & Co. He has over 40 years of experience providing services including auditing, budget preparation, financial planning, business valuations and financial feasibility studies. Richard has served as a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) Health Care Committee and Chairman and current Member of the New Jersey Society of CPAs (NJSCPA) Auditing and Accounting Standards Committee and the Health Care Committee. He also was a Trustee for the NJSCPA and has served on numerous Boards of not-for-profit organizations. Richard will join WS+B as a Partner-Emeritus.
Michael Serluco, son of Richard Serluco, began his career at Deloitte & Touche after graduating from the University of Maryland School of Business, College Park, MD. He is a certified public accountant in New York and New Jersey and has provided extensive auditing, accounting and consulting services to health care and not-for-profit organizations. Michael is currently the Vice Chairman of Bayshore Community Hospital and the Chairman of the finance committee for Bayshore Community Health Services, Inc. He was a Partner at Serluco & Co. and will be a Partner at WithumSmith+Brown.
Joseph Denuto was a Director at Serluco & Co. where he began his career 15 years ago after graduating from Montclair State College, Montclair, NJ. He has extensive audit, accounting and tax experience primarily with entities providing health care and not-for profit organizations. Joe is a member of the NJSCPA and AICPA. He will be a Senior Manager at WS+B.
