Jim Bourke on the Cover of Practical Accountant Magazine

Jim Bourke, CPA.CITP, WS+B partner, has made a fine reputation for himself as an accountant… and as a ‘techie’. By trade, he is a bean counter, but his true passion is technology. So, when the writers from national industry magazine, Practical Accountant, were covering a story on ‘automating workflow’ for their October issue, Bourke was the natural go-to guy as a source of information. The added bonus… he made the front cover!

“I’ve been quoted in many publications on accounting and technology issues. But to have my face and name on the front cover is really special,” says Bourke. He was photographed at his office in Red Bank, NJ, and also at Sea Watch Beach in Manasquan, his home town. “Shooting at the beach was a bit of a challenge. Not only were we racing against time before the sun went down, but we were also concerned about getting sand in the laptop we used as a prop! Regardless, it was a fun experience overall.”

Bourke has a comprehensive background in accounting, tax, management advisory, and litigation support services for closely held technology businesses. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Kean University, Union, NJ, and was awarded the certified information technology professional (CITP) designation from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

He is a member of the AICPA and the New Jersey and New York State Societies of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA & NYSSCPA). Bourke is immediate past president and former vice president, secretary, and member of the board of trustees of the NJSCPA. He also serves on the board of directors of the YMCA and the New Jersey Technology Council, and is on the advisory council of a regional bank.
