WS+B Sponsors Philadelphia ACFE 5th Annual Fraud Training Conference
The Philadelphia Area Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Inc. (ACFE) held its 5th Annual All-Day Fraud Training Conference on Monday, December 3 at the Doubletree Hotel, 237 South Broad Street, Philadelphia. The event was sponsored by WithumSmith+Brown.
Richard Sobine, CFE, LPA, CGFM, audit manager based out of the firm’s Cherry Hill office, is a past president and one of the original founding members of the Philadelphia Area Chapter of ACFE. As board member and annual conference committee chairperson, he states, "we are thrilled with the strong panel of speakers this year. And this is certainly an excellent opportunity for quality CPE."
The keynote speaker was Alan Butkovitz, City Controller of Philadelphia. Additional speakers included:
• Martin Biegelman, CFE, Director, Financial Integrity and Fraud Unit, Microsoft Corporation, presenting on “Building a World Class Compliance Program”
• Dr. Phil J. Hippensteel, Assistant Profession of Informational Systems, The Pennsylvania State University, and Nsate Platt, Esq, MBA, Law Firm of Stock and Leader, presenting on “Demonstration of Little Known IT Tools for Fraud Investigations”
• Franco Frande, Chief, Financial Investigative Services Division, U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF), presenting on “From Employee Embezzlement to Murder/Arson-for-Proft”
