Taryn Bostjancic and Rebecca Machinga named in NJBIZ Forty Under 40 List

WithumSmith+Brown is pleased to announce that two of its partners, Taryn M. Bostjancic, CPA and Rebecca Machinga, CPA, have been named in this year’s “Forty Under 40” list by NJBIZ, a premier New Jersey business news publication.  The Forty Under 40 awards program honors men and women who have been making headlines in their field and who share a commitment to business growth, professional excellence and to the community.

“Both Taryn and Rebecca are very deserving of such recognition,” says Ivan Brown, managing partner of WS+B. “We are fortunate to have these two dynamic professionals as leaders in our firm, having been instrumental in creating and implementing programs which encourage career growth and work-life balance for so many.  Outside of the office, they share this same enthusiasm with other professionals of their generation.”

Taryn and Rebecca, along with the 38 other honorees, will be recognized at a dinner on September 10th at The Palace at Somerset Park, Somerset, NJ.

TARYN M. BOSTJANCIC, CPA

Based in the firm’s New Brunswick office, Taryn Bostjancic is a certified public accountant (CPA) in the states of New Jersey and Michigan, and also has practice privileges in California. She specializes in accounting, auditing and consulting services for both national and international clients in the manufacturing, software, technology, pharmaceutical and service industries. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA), and is also an active member of the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce (MCRCC) and its Women in Business committee.

Within WS+B, Taryn is the Firm’s Team Leader for the SEC Compliance and Reporting Assistance group.  As such, she is responsible for not only the continuation of outstanding service to her existing clients, but is also expected to help grow the client base within this industry, as well as become a thought leader representing the firm in this area.  Those nominated as Team Leader have been recognized for their niche expertise and strong business development acumen.  Taryn is certainly viewed among her peers as a strong leader within this service industry.

Taryn has been instrumental in the implementation of the firm’s Women’s Leadership Development Group (WLDG), a group formed with the mission of promoting and supporting the careers of the women of WS+B.  The WLDG has coordinated internal events including roundtable discussions, book clubs and seminars to provide the participants with learning and mentoring opportunities.  The WLDG also coordinates networking events for working women – inclusive of internal staff and outside organizations – to come together socially on both personal and professional levels, learning how to help each other.

REBECCA MACHINGA, CPA

Based in the firm’s Princeton office, Rebecca is a licensed certified public accountant in the states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida and has over 15 years of professional accounting experience. She specializes in audits, reviews, tax and consulting services, primarily with closely-held service companies. Rebecca is a member of the AICPA, NJSCPA, the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), and Industrial Commercial Real Estate Women (ICREW).  She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Business School Advisory Board of The College of New Jersey and also serves as Treasurer/Secretary.  She served on the board of directors of the IMA Princeton chapter for 13 years, where she held numerous leadership positions, including four terms as president and has also been involved with IMA at the state and national levels.  She also actively served on the AICPA National Mentoring Task Force.

Rebecca is the Practice Leader of WithumSmith+Brown’s Real Estate Services Group.  As such, she is responsible for providing specialized support to clients in the real estate industry and building a support group within WS+B to expand this service niche.  She was nominated for this role given her expertise and strong business development acumen.

Rebecca also plays a leadership role with the firm’s Women’s Leadership Development Group (WLDG).  Having helped initiate the group with a fellow female colleague over nine years ago, this was a progressive idea as women’s professional networking opportunities were rare within the accounting, law and banking industries.  Rebecca was also instrumental in developing WS+B’s entire mentoring program and its recruitment program to include even the supporting guidelines, evaluation forms and other necessary documentation that is all used to this day.  She has also served on WithumSmith+Brown’s Performance Evaluation and 30th Anniversary committees.

A Firm Gone Viral

On a Friday morning in early December, some 150 accountants and staff boarded a Manhattan-bound R train. It's doubtful any of their fellow commuters guessed they were all from the CPA firm of WithumSmith+Brown. That is, until the dancing started.
