IRS PROVIDES UPDATE ON ITS EMPLOYMENT TAX COMPLIANCE INITIATIVE

At a Representing and Managing Tax-Exempt Organizations conference on April 26th, Nanette Downing, Director, Internal Revenue Service Exempt Organization Examinations, stated that revenue agents in the Exempt Organizations ("EO") unit at the Internal Revenue Service ("IRS") have examined employment tax forms from various organizations for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 tax years. During the three year examination, IRS agents have closed examinations of approximately 7,900 organizations of which 1,600 were tax-exempt organizations.
